I have a clinical psychology practice limited
to adults. One of the most rewarding aspects of my practice has been
having the opportunity to work to empower other women. I have been a
licensed psychologist for 16 years and have experience with victims of
verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. Other areas of interest would
include anxiety disorders, stress management, and relationship problems.

I am a "Counselor for Wounded
Souls" - a Spiritual teacher, codependence counselor and grief
therapist whose private practice is based upon Twelve Step Recovery
Principles and emotional energy release/grief process therapy. My
expertise is in codependency recovery, emotional healing, inner child
work, Spiritual awakening & integration, personal empowerment &
self-esteem, relationship dynamics, alcoholism/addiction recovery, and
teaching people how to Love themselves. I have pioneered innovative,
powerful techniques for emotional/inner child healing that allow
individuals to learn how to relax and enjoy life while they are healing.
My work is focused on the belief that we are Spiritual Beings having a
human experience and that the key to learning to be Loving to our self is
awakening to consciousness of our Spiritual connection.

Support Group: I am an occupational
therapist with 24 years of experience working with psychiatric patients. I
divorced 2 verbal abusers. The first was overt with his abuse, the second
was covert. But after the last divorce, I realized that I needed to work on
ME. After 4 years of seeking a higher truth, I realized that I want to
share that information with other people.
I started a verbal abuse support group at Seacoast Grace Church. It
meets every Wednesday evening, at 7:00. The group is open, and it runs
for 8 weeks, with a 2 week break. I am considering starting a men's group, since several men
have asked to attend my group.

Dr. Irene, I am not a therapist, but an attorney who
works at a domestic violence center in Columbia, MD. I'm writing to do a
mini "commercial" for the wonderful men and women who are LCSW-Cs (or at
a minimum Master's level -LGSWs), Certified Counselors and a couple of
psychologists in the mix who treat men, women and children who are
victims/survivors and abusers themselves. They are my heroes - and my
heart!
I believe they would be happy to have this information
posted on the board for residents of Maryland. They are well versed on
the issue of verbal, sexual, emotional and physical abuse.
Yours truly,
Joan Gavigan
